Celebrate the music from Season Seven.
Hosted by producer Mary Ellen Kubit, this episode shares favorite and memorable music from the various episodes this past season. Plus, we have an interview with Chris Long and V. Wirges of Monsterboy Lives discussing their song, "The End of The World."
As many of you know, music is at the heart of much of our storytelling, and we typically feature singers, songwriters and musicians from Arkansas and across the Mid-South.
In several episodes, we commissioned original songs from our various musical contributors to enhance the storytelling. Many of these songs are yet to be released by the artists and can only be heard on the episodes.
From “Object Impermanence”:
- "Mid-Century Doom" by electronica artist, Empielle. Brad spent weeks tracking down this elusive composer.
From “Mystics, Madmen, or Cunning Frauds”:
- "The End of The World" an original song written and performed by Little Rock's indie pop duo, Monsterboy Lives.
From “The Perfect Novel”:
- "Lute's Lament" by Frank Thurmond on lute and Barry Burks on guitar.
- “Nothing But The Night” by Joseph Fuller with Fan Zeng on cello
- “Love You Just The Same” by Silas Hite, from The Satin Cowboy & The Seven Deadly Sins album Duel. This song ends the music review.
From “The Captain and The Glory”:
- "Get On The Boat” by Phil Davis.
From "The Ghost Variations, with Kevin Brockmeier":
- “See the Light” by Brad Byrd from his 2017 album Silhouettes.
From “Redefining the Color Line”:
- "Cool That Lion" by Aaron Kamm and the One Drops, from their album Feed The Meter.
- “From My Window” by Tim Anthony of Afrodesia Studio of the Performing Arts
From “Leveling the Playing Field”:
- "Hillbilly Hellraiser" by Joseph Fuller with from Robert Campbell and Michael Fuller. This unreleased song was commissioned for the episode based historian J. Blake Perkins' book Hillbilly Hellraisers: Federal Power and Populist Defiance in the Ozarkspublished by the University of Illinois Press.
From “On The Battlefield”:
- “On the Battlefield for my Lord” sung by Little Rock gospel legend Lady Georgia Hudson, accompanied by Tim Anthony.
- “Can’t Hold Me Down" by multi-media artist, Gavin Le'nard.
From“The Liminal Spaces of Danny Marsh”:
- “Get Ya Next Time” written by frequent contributor Joseph Fuller, with vocal from Jessica Fuller.
- "Winters Wraith" by Adam Simon from his album Shadow Reset. Simon is a member of the A&L team and mixes and masters each program.
