We are celebrating Global Tiger Day at the Little Rock Zoo!
In honor of our observation of Global Tiger Day on July 29, we hope you'll join us in celebrating and raising awareness of this iconic endangered species.
Stop by the Zoo on Monday to learn more about our tigers and how you can support tiger conservation.
And don't miss this great opportunity to discover our latest exhibit - DRAGON KINGDOM!
Check back for more details on the day's activities.
Tigers are influential predators that play a critical role in maintaining healthy ecosystems that supply both people and the environment with fresh water, food and health. With fewer than 4,000 tigers left in the wild, these iconic cats are fighting for survival and face threats from poaching, habitat loss, and climate change. The Zoo is home to the Malayan subspecies of tiger. There are less than 150 Malayan tigers left in the wild.
The Zoo's Malayan tiger include Jaya (father) and his three daughters: Kae, Sundari, and Zoya born in 2022.

In honor of International Orangutan Day on August 19, we hope you'll join us in celebrating and raising awareness of this iconic endangered species. At the Little Rock Zoo, we have an orangutan family: Berani (mom), Bandar (father), and Kasih (infant).
The family can be seen in the orangutan exhibit each day: enjoying their exhibits, their toys and daily treats. Stop by the observation window to get a better view.
On this awareness Day, we will have activities and other surprises for you to enjoy and learn how we can take action to preserve these amazing animals.
Check back for the day's details.
Orangutans are the largest arboreal animal and one of the most majestic species on the planet. They are considered the gardeners of the forest due the vital role they play in seed dispersal in the forests in which they live. However, the forests of Borneo and Sumatra are being cleared for palm oil plantations and paper pulp leaving very little of their native habitats intact. Being the slowest reproducing animal on the planet (having only one child every 3-5 years) they are incredibly prone to extinction with some estimates expecting extinction in the wild in the next 10-20 years.
