The ARTx3 Campus will host the opening reception for the exhibition “Blaque” by Jonathan Wright, from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, at The Arts & Science Center for Southeast Arkansas (ASC), 701 S. Main St. The event is free, and refreshments will be available.
“Blaque” explores how a single shade can carry grief, resilience, tradition, and transformation within the African diaspora. Blending technology with traditional techniques, the artist uses matte black on black paper to prompt slow, intentional analysislooking—revealing layered histories, personal memory, and cultural legacy. The exhibition invites viewers to reflect on their own heritage while confronting how stories can fade unless we choose to see them fully.
Wright is an art instructor at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in visual arts. He completed his Master of Fine Arts in printmaking this year at Arizona State University. His love of working with his hands is what drives him to combine traditional printmaking techniques, such as woodcutting, with modern technology. His current body of work emphasizes the rich history of the African American Community, their experiences and their heritage.

Shakey GravesAmericanaAcross his career, Shakey Graves—a.k.a. the performance moniker of Austin, Texas-born Alejandro Rose-Garcia—has intentionally created thrilling musical adventures tailored to each fan: burning CDs and putting them in personalized decorated bags; building intricate scavenger hunts that send fans in search of unique tapes; and Bandcamp-exclusive releases.
"The fans and musicians that really resonate with me—and the inexplicable ways that I find things that I like—are usually entirely through randomness and chaos and accident," Rose-Garcia says. "I've always been on this quest to make people feel like my own music is a choose your own adventure."
In 2024 Rose-Garcia celebrated the ten year anniversary of his And The War Came album with a special 10 Year Anniversary Edition release featuring never before heard demos and b-sides from the recording process and inviting fans to enter the long-since abandoned Music House.
His story continues to unfold, but Shakey Graves Is Still A Gentleman From Texas.

His first release, 'Home Run', arrived in September 2024 on wave of demand from a growing TikTok audience. This was quickly followed by ‘The Chronicles of Gerald Womack’, his debut EP which was recorded in its entirety on a £20 Akai mic that he found on ebay several years earlier.
Now signed to NY-based label Mutual Friends, TMTMTM released his first single of 2025 ‘Infinite’ on 14th March with his latest single 'Crushed' arriving on 11th April.
