Learn the basics of researching grant opportunities through the Foundation Directory Online! The Arkansas Arts Council, in partnership with the Central Arkansas Library System, will hold a GetSmART! Learning Series workshop with consultant Brenda Mauldin from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, at the main library on the third floor of 100 S. Rock St. “Conducting Prospect Grant Research” is a hands-on workshop that will introduce participants to the Foundation Center’s Foundation Directory Online, which is used to find possible grant funding and grant-writing guidance. The Foundation Center is a leading source of information on philanthropy, fundraising and grant programs. The computer lab cannot be entered before 9:30 a.m. Participants will have access to a workstation and will learn how to: • Access the directory at CALS • Understand the directory • Create search queries • Read and understand query results • Save search results • Review best practices of research Cost to attend the workshop is $15 and includes a lunch. Reservations must be made by Jan. 20. Seating is limited to 14 because of workstation accessibility. Parking is available in the library’s parking lot and parking deck for half price. Participants also should bring a thumb drive to save research results.
